Product Rebrand & Redesign

Backoffice Orders.mp4

Project Scope:

Bolt underwent a total rebrand and a product redesign almost simultaneously. This included deploying several new features, reskinning the entire surface, and reorganizing several user workflows. I was deeply involved in this effort, providing user behavior insights to the product and engineering teams, QA testing in bug bashes, creating in-app notifications and guidance, and collecting beta feedback to drive meaningful fast-follows.

Once development was complete, I faced the significant task to recreate several years worth of elearning videos in an extremeley compressed timeline. Due to unexpected team changes in the past, nearly all content needed to be created from zero, rather than simple updates to existing source files. I scoped the impacted content, then updated or created:

to train all users on the new workflows within Bolt and bring all content into alignment with the new product and business identify.

Above you can see one video from the project, which provides users guidance on how to complete a task within the new experience.

Major Wins:

The materials created for this project were created and deployed by me as a team of 1 in under 6 weeks, lessening customer confusion and creating a consistent experience almost immediately. I was able to simultaneously balance several other competing, high priority initiatives at a consistently high level.

Adobe Product Launch

Adobe+Bolt+Value+Add (2).mov

Project Scope:

New self-service product line created in partnership with Adobe commerce platform for micro- to mid-market merchants.

My role as the sole instructional designer involved in the go-to-market motion was to map the entire customer implementation and go-live journey, then create:

to train all users on the value add of implementing Bolt, and the self-installation process itself.

These resources were widely used by internal teams in Bolt and Adobe, externally in marketing efforts, customer education, and in the new Partner Enablement academy I also designed for Bolt.

Above you can see one video from the project, which explains the value add customers can expect by implementing Bolt.

Major Wins:

The materials created for this project supported the Bolt and Adobe go to market teams, and became the foundation for the new Bolt Partner Enablement academy, which has alleviated pressure on Bolt's implementation team

BigCommerce Product Launch

BigC SetUp UI Updates October.mov

Project Scope:

New self-service product line created in partnership with BigCommerce ecommerce platform for micro- to mid-market merchants. This project sought to dramatically reduce the time and headcount required to move customers from qualified lead to live revenue.

I joined this project during my initial weeks with Bolt and the ecommerce space. I was instrumental in mapping the customer implementation and go-live journey, then:

to train all users on the value add of implementing Bolt, and the self-installation process itself.

These resources quickly became the most used content in Bolt history, with videos maintaining historically high completion rates.

Videos were used to power:

Major Wins:

Through this project, implementation pipelines of Bolt on BigCommerce were reduced from an average of 3 weeks to 4 minutes. All materials maintained above an 85% completion rate for over a year.

CaptivateIQ Customer Onboarding

Project Scope:

When I joined CaptivateIQ as their first instructional designer and second ever education team hire, I quickly assessed the company's largest pain points. The implementation team was completely underwater, outpaced by a hugely successful sales team and a market desperate for the solution the company provides for commission calculations.

Within 6 weeks I helped launch a new LMS (SkillJar) and oversaw all content creation and administration. I self-taught and then created more than 45 micro-lessons to onboard new customers to their no-code commissions tool.

This project required that I:

Major Wins:

Sales and Implementation teams were able to direct new customers to anytime, anywhere content to learn about CaptivateIQ, increasing the win rate and decreasing the time spent on each implementation

Harassment Policy Training

Project Scope:

While working on the Documentation & Training team at Fast Enterprise LLC's corporate headquarters, I dedicated significant effort to reinvigorating internal learning and development practices. The existing harassment policy training was an instructor-led slide deck training that often evoked glazed eyes and naps on the down low.

I partnered closely with the Legal and Human Resources teams to completely redesign this training. Over the course of a few weeks, I:

Major Wins:

This training was deployed to 1,400+ employees around the globe, and received overwhelmingly positive feedback. Users were delighted by the interactive elements and the quirky stick figure characters. This training achieved 100% completion within 2 weeks of first deployment.

New Product Feature

Impersonate a User.mp4

Project Scope:

Feature releases are a common lifecycle when working in SaaS. While some features only require release notes, others benefit from more engaging, or more in-depth, materials. This feature release was the most requested by users for 12 months, and included significant changes to operational workflows. As such, I:

Major Wins

All educational materials were ready the same day as the product launch, which is a practice I strive for and worked hard to set as the standard at CaptivateIQ. Content was accessed by dozens of customers within minutes of the feature release announcement, which illuminated for leadership the importance of simultaneous training materials release.
